MK Shapeshifter
A Contemporary Renaissance Antiqua

MK Shapeshifter is a contemporary Renaissance-Antiqua, shifting between the polarities of expression and functionality.

It’s shapes derive from the calligraphic origins
of early Venetian Antiquas – combined with

the influences of Finnish Art Nouveau, design
and culture.

The Glyphs share a calligraphic approach, that is visible in their expressive
inktraps, bulky stroke shapes, and concave serifs.

Shapeshifter in Use

The first project designed MK Shapeshifter is dedicated to Anarâškielâ – The Language of the Inari Sámi.
It is based on research on endangered Sámi Languages and their visual representation. The three introductory posters were created in collaboration with Anarâškielâservi – The Inari Sámi Language Association – based on the first book ever published in Inari Sámi in 1859.
